(This blog post has been updated for 2024)
We are so excited for reindeer day!
Today we’ll be learning about reindeer, working on a STEM activity, and making a silly reindeer headband!
PS: Make sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of this post…I included extra videos today (it was so hard to pick what to share here – there were lots of good options on YouTube)!
Are you visiting for the first time? You are still able to grab my free Christmas school calendar! You can download it below and you can also join our Christmas School FB group here 🙂 It is full of the most wonderful mommas!
Keep reading below for more about Reindeer Day!
PS: Want the full Christmas School Bundle? This 362 pg. PDF is packed full with all the fun Christmas School activities to do this month! It comes with a detailed teacher guide, master supply list, suggested reading list, themed snack pictures, grocery list, bookmark and punch card trackers for your kids, and an easy-to-print option at the back of the PDF based on grade levels!
Day #13. Reindeer Day!
Here is what we are planning to do today! 🙂
Just a reminder that my kids are in 4th, 2nd, and PreK grades. If you have different ages and feel like what we are doing isn’t something your kids would be interested in, feel free to scroll below! I’ll add more activity ideas at the bottom of each blog post.
Activities
#1. Reindeer Art & Writing Prompt
Did you grab the Christmas School Bundle? This was a new activity I added in today! It’s not available yet in my TPT shop, but I’ll share it here once it is!
#2. Make a Silly Reindeer Paper Crown/Headband
If you haven’t had the chance to make a headband craft yet (or if your kids like making these – like mine do 😊), here is another silly hat printable! There are 10 different face options to choose from!
#3. Reindeer Silhouette Artwork
This is another Christmas School Bundle activity! Your student can paint a background and then cut out this reindeer for a Christmas silhouette!
Snack
Today I’ll be using pretzels, graham crackers, peanut butter, raisins, and red M&Ms to make some reindeer for snack time!
You could also cut their sandwiches in an oval shape, stick some pretzels inside the top of it (for antlers), and set some raisins & a red m&m on top to make a reindeer face!
Books
(Note: I only skimmed these books, so be sure to skim it also if you want to make sure it’s something your family values align with).
Today we’ll be reading, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” by Robert L. May, “The Grumpy Reindeer” by DK, and “How to Catch a Reindeer” by Alice Walstead!
Here are the YouTube Read Aloud links for these books 🙂
Do You Have More Time? Here Are Some Extra Ideas!
#1. Watch Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer as a family!
#2. Make some reindeer food to sprinkle outside on Christmas Eve! This cute short story has an easy recipe at the end of the book (1 cup of oats and some colored sugar crystals…we just use sprinkles instead).
#3. Learn some fun facts about reindeer!
#4. Draw a reindeer with this tutorial from Art for Kids Hub!
#5. Meet a baby reindeer with Brave Wilderness!
#6. Do you have a little one who likes Blippi? We never quite got into Blippi at our house, BUT I saw this field trip to a reindeer farm that Blippi did and thought maybe this could be a fun watch for some of your kiddos!
I hope you guys have a wonderful day! I can’t wait to see everything you and your kids create and do! Check back soon for my Stocking Day post 🙂
