It is the FIRST day of Valentine School! We are so excited over here to start on Monday! It drove my kids bonkers to watch me test out experiments and crafts last month while I made the Valentine School bundle. They’ve been counting down until they could actually do everything too! ๐ฅฐ
Are you new to Valentine School 2024? No worries! You can learn more about it here and join our Valentine School FB group as well๐ If you need to print out the Valentine School Calendar, scroll to the bottom of this post and pop your email in so I can send it to you!
Keep reading below for more about Love is Patient Day!
Day #1. Love is Patient Day!
Here is some of what we are planning to do on Monday! ๐ If you purchased the Valentine School bundle, there are discussion questions included for each day. I recommend reading those beforehand or while you’re waiting on an experiment or doing an art activity!
Activities
IMPORTANT NOTE: These printable activities will be FREE for you to download, but only until Love is Patient Day is over! So, make sure to download them even if you are going to do Love is Patient Day later in the week โ that way you can still snag them for free. If you could leave a review behind afterwards, that would be amazing too! THANK YOU!! ๐ฅฐโค๏ธ
#1. Dissolving Candy Hearts Science Experiment
Grab some candy hearts and print out this worksheet to give your kids a hand=on activity to practice their patience! After filling out their worksheet, they will drop some candy hearts into each liquid and wait to see what happens.
It will take some time for one of the hearts to completely dissolve, so this is a great time to discuss patience while they are waiting to see if their hypothesis is correct about which liquid will dissolve a candy heart the fastest!
#2. Weave a Valentine Heart Paper Craft
Your kids can use this printable to weave a paper heart! Weaving requires a LOT of patience, so you can use this craft to discuss what it means and looks like to be patient not only with others, BUT also with ourselves when we are doing something hard or time-consuming!
There is a short poem included in the PDF that your student can cut out and glue onto the page once it is done!
#3. Paint a Weave Pattern!
Do you have younger students? Here is an easier option for them! They can also use this printable (FYI – it’s the same download as above – both projects are combined in that activity download ๐) to paint a weaving pattern on this heart, instead of the attempting to weave the paper heart above.
Snack
Snack time today is a mini heart pizza! Grab (or make) some pizza dough, pizza sauce, and favorite pizza toppings and let your kids make their own Valentine-inspired lunch!
Books
(Note: Everyone has different book standards! I highly suggest skimming through any books before reading them to your kids, just to make sure it aligns with your family values first) ๐ฉท
Today weโll be reading, “Patience, Please” by Mike Berenstain and “The Very Impatient Caterpillar” by Ross Burach.
If you were unable to grab these books from the library or store, here are read aloud options on YouTube!
And yes, this was my first time recording myself reading ๐ซฃ It might seem silly, but doing this is a HUGE goal crossed off on my checklist. When I had a stroke 2 and 1/2 years ago…once I was back home, I could not read a simple baby book to my youngest (he was 1 years-old at the time). It was honestly very depressing and frustrating. Part of my speech therapy afterwards was just trying to read sentences to my therapist. Anyways…just wanted to share and hopefully encourage you, in case you’re struggling with overcoming something too. You CAN do it! And you never know just how far you’ll be in two and a half years from now โค๏ธ
